One of the most attractive temples in Kyoto, Tofuku-ji Temple also has the advantage of not being very crowded UNLESS you come during the fall foliage season. Opening hours: 9am-4pm April-October 8.30am-4pm November- early December 9am-3:30pm early December-March

Sennyu-ji is a lovely temple hidden in the mountains above Kyoto. Opening hours: 9am-4:30pm March-November 9am-4pm December-February
